Best Entrepreneurial Blogs
I’ve enjoyed Tom Peters’ blog for years. If you read the negative reviews of Peters on Amazon, you’ll note people accuse him of being too superficial and repetitive, and, yes, while he can get a little too hyped up at times, for the most part, I’ve always enjoyed his perspective and passion for seeing things differently. I also really like the fact he is so passionate about PowerPoint 🙂 Sounds cheesy, but you’ve got to admire a guy who still uses PowerPoint like it’s the best thing since sliced bread, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that ReImagine impacted my thinking towards business during my college years.
The next one I’d recommend is not so much a blog, as just a single blog post, however, it is very impactful and I’ve had it bookmarked for a few years. It’s the story of David Tran and his experience building the Sriracha hot sauce company. The best quote? “My American dream was never to become a billionaire,” Tran said. “We started this because we like fresh, spicy chili sauce.” Great stuff and you can read the full writeup at TechCrunch or the original story on LA Times.
The final one I’d recommend for now is a Tumblr blog a CEO set called “My Startup Has 30 Days to Live” which is an anonymous look into the final days of a VC backed startup. Reading it live, as events transpired a couple of years ago, was riveting and raw. Reading it now, is still insightful and provides an honest look at the very real downs of entrepreneurial life.
